Caring for the Burnie Community

Park Grove Medical Centre has proudly provided high-quality healthcare to the Burnie community for many years. Our experienced team of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals are committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We believe healthcare is about more than treating illness. It’s about building lasting relationships with our patients, supporting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease where possible, and providing trusted medical care through every stage of life.

Whether you’re visiting for a routine health check, managing a chronic condition, seeking advice for your family, or requiring ongoing care, we’re here to support your health with professional, personalised service.

Our
Philosophy

Our goal is simple: to provide accessible, respectful and comprehensive healthcare for individuals and families throughout Burnie and the surrounding North West Coast.

Every patient is unique, which is why we take the time to listen, understand your concerns and work with you to develop the most appropriate treatment plan. We strive to ensure every visit is comfortable, informative and centred around your individual healthcare needs.

Dr Sam Atkins

General Practioner

Born and raised in Launceston, Sam and his family have recently made the move to Burnie. While we all know the real drawcard was the fishing and new golf courses to explore, Sam’s professional answer is that he’s passionate about delivering an exceptional integrated general practice in Burnie and supporting a strong training pathway for local graduates who can now complete their entire medical degree in Burnie.

Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Atkins worked as both a pharmacist and an Air Force Officer. He later completed his medical studies in Newcastle and undertook his residency at Launceston General Hospital. Dr. Atkins is passionate about all areas of General Practice including skin cancer medicine.

Dr. Jerome Muir Wilson

Founder & Director

Jerome is a co-founder of the Launceston Health Hub, located just over the back fence from the Launceston General Hospital. He is passionate about improving the health of Tasmanians by building what he sees as Tasmania’s leading health ecosystem, one that gives patients access to timely, high-quality care close to home and real choices about their health.

Jerome is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and was awarded the Tasmanian Faculty Gold Medal. He works across general practice, urgent care, and sports and occupational medicine, and is an accredited supervisor who enjoys supporting and mentoring other doctors. He has been closely involved in the growth of services including Launceston Medical Centre, Norwood Medical Centre, and the Launceston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, and has also contributed at a governance level through roles with St Luke’s Health Insurance, Salveo Healthcare Services, and General Practice Training Tasmania.

He has a strong interest in sports medicine and enjoys working with athletes from the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, the JackJumpers, and supporting several football teams across Northern Tasmania. If there is a sideline nearby, chances are Jerome is not far from it.

Outside of work, Jerome has swapped his footy boots for a mountain bike. He loves spending time with his young family and is at his happiest unwinding on the beach in Stanley, usually with sand between his toes and very deliberately not checking his emails.
