Caring for the Burnie Community

Park Grove Medical Centre has proudly provided high-quality healthcare to the Burnie community for many years. Our experienced team of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals are committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We believe healthcare is about more than treating illness. It’s about building lasting relationships with our patients, supporting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease where possible, and providing trusted medical care through every stage of life.

Whether you’re visiting for a routine health check, managing a chronic condition, seeking advice for your family, or requiring ongoing care, we’re here to support your health with professional, personalised service.

About the Clinic

All new patients are required to complete a registration form before their consultation.

To help us provide appropriate and personalised healthcare, we ask patients to provide relevant information about their background and health needs.

If your personal details change, including your address, contact details, Medicare details or emergency contact, please notify our reception team.

We are committed to protecting the confidentiality of your health information and maintaining appropriate safeguards for your medical records.

For more information about how we collect, use and protect your information, please read our Privacy Policy.

Pathology and radiology results, along with specialist letters, are reviewed by our doctors.

We maintain a recall system and will contact you if your doctor needs to see you urgently. Otherwise, please book an appointment to discuss your results and any recommended follow-up care.

We also operate reminder systems for services such as cervical screening, immunisations, care plan reviews and health assessments. We participate in relevant national, state and territory reminder programs.

Please speak with your doctor if you have questions about our reminder systems or let us know if you do not wish to participate where opting out is available.

Electronic communications are monitored during practice hours. For urgent enquiries, please telephone the practice rather than relying on email or website messages.

Appointments can be booked online or by telephone. Email should not be used to send confidential information such as medical records.

Communications received from patients, sent to patients or relating to patients may form part of their medical record, together with any actions taken in response.

For further information about how your personal information is handled, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Home visits may be available to regular patients who are unable to attend the practice because of their medical condition and who live within a reasonable distance.

Home visits are provided at the doctor’s discretion. Please contact reception to discuss your circumstances and find out whether a home visit may be appropriate.

We want all patients to feel comfortable communicating with their healthcare provider.

If you need assistance communicating in English, we can help arrange an interpreter through the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National).

Please let our reception team know if you require an interpreter when booking your appointment so arrangements can be made.

If you require medical advice outside the practice’s normal operating hours, you can contact Healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for health advice and guidance.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 000.

Dr Sam Atkins

General Practioner

Born and raised in Launceston, Sam and his family have recently made the move to Burnie. While we all know the real drawcard was the fishing and new golf courses to explore, Sam’s professional answer is that he’s passionate about delivering an exceptional integrated general practice in Burnie and supporting a strong training pathway for local graduates who can now complete their entire medical degree in Burnie.

Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Atkins worked as both a pharmacist and an Air Force Officer. He later completed his medical studies in Newcastle and undertook his residency at Launceston General Hospital. Dr. Atkins is passionate about all areas of General Practice including skin cancer medicine.

Dr. Jerome Muir Wilson

Founder & Director

Jerome is a co-founder of the Launceston Health Hub, located just over the back fence from the Launceston General Hospital. He is passionate about improving the health of Tasmanians by building what he sees as Tasmania’s leading health ecosystem, one that gives patients access to timely, high-quality care close to home and real choices about their health.

Jerome is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and was awarded the Tasmanian Faculty Gold Medal. He works across general practice, urgent care, and sports and occupational medicine, and is an accredited supervisor who enjoys supporting and mentoring other doctors. He has been closely involved in the growth of services including Launceston Medical Centre, Norwood Medical Centre, and the Launceston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, and has also contributed at a governance level through roles with St Luke’s Health Insurance, Salveo Healthcare Services, and General Practice Training Tasmania.

He has a strong interest in sports medicine and enjoys working with athletes from the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, the JackJumpers, and supporting several football teams across Northern Tasmania. If there is a sideline nearby, chances are Jerome is not far from it.

Outside of work, Jerome has swapped his footy boots for a mountain bike. He loves spending time with his young family and is at his happiest unwinding on the beach in Stanley, usually with sand between his toes and very deliberately not checking his emails.
